Director Charlotte Lee has announced the theme for the 2012 Arts Camps as “Let the Good Times Roll!” which will focus on the art and music of the 1950′s. MACA’s series of one week arts camps feature instruction in music, art, drama, stage, set design, and dance led by professional teachers. The camps are open to children in Grades K-6 (have completed kindergarten and sixth grade). The cost is $60/week and includes lunch and a t-shirt. The week concludes with a performance showcase on Friday for friends and family. The camps are held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. -2 p.m.

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available and applications can be downloaded from this site. The application process requires a recommendation from a teacher or adult who is well-acquainted with the child.

Madisonville Primary School: June 4-8

Sweetwater Broad Street School: June 11-15

Madisonville Primary School: June 18-22

Support the Arts With a Specialty License Plate

Add a little pizzazz to your ride! Tennesseans are doing just that by purchasing unique and colorful specialty license plates. It’s a fun way to express your individuality and support the cultural life of Tennessee. Purchasing a license plate provides funding and support for arts activities in your own community through the grant programs offered by the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Investing in these plates provides the primary source of funding for the Tennessee Arts Commission grant programs. Specialty plates are available at the Monroe County Clerk’s office.
